Carriage houses permitted in West Kelowna

WEST KELOWNA – New housing choices and income opportunities are available for tenants and homeowners now that carriage houses are permitted in West Kelowna.

On September 29, Mayor and Council adopted amendments to the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw to permit carriage houses on specified properties in the City of West Kelowna.

Complete information on minimum requirements and the process to legalize a carriage house is available on the City of West Kelowna’s website at www.westkelownacity.ca/carriagehouses.

Residents can also contact the Building Department at 778-797-8820 or email info@westkelownacity.ca.

Carriage houses are permitted in many jurisdictions in North America as a means of providing housing affordability and residency options for both tenants and property owners.
