KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Tri-City Americans 3-0 on Saturday night, March 28, at Prospera Place, taking a two-games-to-nothing lead on the Americans in their first round WHL playoff series.
The Rockets blanked the Americans 6-0 on Friday night, March 27, to open the series.
Jackson Whistle made 30 saves for back-to-back shutouts and Rodney Southam's first period marker stood up as the winner.
Leon Draisaitl also scored for the Rockets, who protected its one goal lead throughout the game, until Draisaitl's 2nd of the playoffs late in the third, sealed the win. Tyson Baillie added an empty net goal in the win.
The series now shifts to Tri-City where the Rockets and Americans will play games three and four on Tuesday and Wednesday in Kennewick, WA.
If necessary game five in the series will be back in Kelowna on Friday, April 3.
