WHL: Miettinen stars in OT as Silvertips edge Winterhawks 4-3; Everett leads 2-0

EVERETT — Julius Miettinen scored 5:46 into overtime as the Everett Silvertips edged the Portland Winterhawks 4-3 on Saturday in the second round of the Western Hockey League’s playoffs.

Everett leads the best-of-seven series 2-0.

Austin Roest, Landon DuPont and Dominik Rymon had regulation-time goals for the Silvertips.

Raiden LeGall made 35 saves in net for the win.

Hudson Darby, Josh Zakreski and Kyle Chyzowski supplied the offence for Portland.

Winterhawks netminder Ondrej Štěbeták kicked out 45 of 49 shots.

HURRICANES 2 HITMEN 1

CALGARY — Kooper Gizowski put away the winner with 2:15 left to play as Lethbridge slipped past the Hitmen.

The Hurricanes took a 2-0 series lead with the win.

Brayden Edwards had the other Lethbridge goal.

Ben Kindel scored for Calgary.

TIGERS 6 RAIDERS 4

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. — Oasiz Wiesblatt had a goal and an assist as the Tigers defeated Prince Albert.

Liam Ruck, Ryder Ritchie, Josh Van Mulligen, Gavin McKenna and Misha Volotovskii rounded out the attack for Medicine Hat.

Daxon Rudolph, Brayden Dube, Evan Smith and Dayce Derkatch all scored once for the Raiders.
