72 passengers reach settlements in lawsuits stemming from deadly Asiana crash
SAN FRANCISCO – More than 70 passengers aboard an Asiana Airlines flight that crashed in San Francisco two years ago have reached a settlement in their lawsuits against the airline.
Lawyers for the passengers and Asiana say in a court filing Tuesday that they’ve reached agreements with 72 passengers who filed personal injury claims.
Plaintiffs’ attorney Frank Pitre says this is the first set of lawsuits to be resolved after the Boeing 777 crashed on final approach to San Francisco International Airport. Dozens of additional cases are still pending.
Pitre said the settlement amount was confidential.
The settlements also include the airplane’s manufacturer, Boeing, and Air Cruisers Co., which made the plane’s evacuation slides.
The July 6, 2013, crash killed three Chinese teens and left nearly 200 people injured.
