Nelson scores in regulation, adds shootout winner as the Royals edge the Blazers

VICTORIA – Logan Nelson scored once in regulation and then the shootout winner as the Victoria Royals defeated the visiting Kamloops Blazers 4-3 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Brett Cotie and Alex Gogolev also scored for the Royals (3-0-0).

Cole Ully led the Blazers (2-0-1) offensively with two goals while Tim Bozon added a single goal.

Royals’ goaltender Patrik Polivka made 21 saves for the victory while Blazers’ net minder Taran Kozun stopped 35 shots in a losing effort.

Victoria went 1 for 3 on the power play while Kamloops scored once on two chances with the man advantage.
