Warehouse collapse kills 5 firefighters, injures 14 others in northeastern China

BEIJING, China – A warehouse collapse in the northeastern city of Harbin killed five firefighters and injured 13 others, Chinese state media reported.

The state broadcaster Central China Television reported Saturday that rescuers had found the bodies of two firefighters who had been out of contact, raising the death toll to five.

The Harbin Communist Party said on its Sina Weibo microblog account that a security guard also was injured in the blaze.

The official Xinhua News Agency said the firefighters were on the second floor of a ceramics market warehouse Friday night trying to put out a blaze above them when the floor collapsed on them. Three of the injured remain in critical condition.
