Hodges with two goals as the Royals beat the Giants 6-4

VANCOUVER – Steven Hodges scored twice and set up one more as the Victoria Royals defeated the host Vancouver Giants 6-4 on Friday in Western Hockey League action.

Joe Hicketts, Ben Walker, Brandon Magee and Logan Fisher also scored for the Royals (1-0-0) while Alex Gogolev chipped in with three assists.

Cain Franson scored twice for the Giants (0-1-0) as Brett Kulak and Nathan Burns scored a goal apiece.

Patrik Polivka made 26 saves for the victory while Liam Liston allowed five goals on 17 shots against.

Victoria went 2 for 4 on the power play as Vancouver scored once on five chances with the man advantage.
