MOO-ve over! Herd of dairy cows makes a break for freedom, saunters through Minnesota town

RED WING, Minn. – You could say these cows were on the MOO-ve.

Six wayward dairy cows sauntered down the main drag in Red Wing, Minnesota, a small city tucked along the Mississippi River.

Chief Roger Pohlman says it took three officers to corral the black-and-white cows Wednesday night.

Pohlman says the owner is a farmer from Hager City, Wisconsin, who was passing through Red Wing. He says the owner called police when he noticed his trailer gate was down and he was missing a few Holstein after returning to his farm. He had stopped in Red Wing and figured that’s where they got out.

The chief says the officers herded the cows into a parking enclosure. He says it’s a good thing they were dairy cows, because they’re more co-operative than beef cattle.
