Poor weather in B.C. hampers river search for missing Red Deer, Alta., man

TERRACE, B.C. – The search for a missing Alberta man by the RCMP and a search and rescue team in Terrace, B.C., has been hampered by poor weather.

Dustin Steele of Red Deer was last seen in the back seat of a truck that drove into the Skeena River on Saturday.

Two men escaped from the truck and made it to shore but there’s been no sign of the 23-year-old man.

While the truck has been located under water, searchers aren’t sure if the man’s body is inside.

Joseph Piper, who is operating an excavator at the site, says the river if flowing very quickly and the task of pulling the truck out of the water is difficult.

Steele’s father, Duane, says he continues to hold out hope that his son will be found. (CFTK)
