SAN DIEGO – A passenger has been medevaced from a cruise ship off Southern California.
The Coast Guard says the Norwegian Star requested assistance Thursday morning because a 68-year-old man was displaying symptoms of a heart condition.
The ship was 310 miles (499 kilometres) at sea and diverted toward shore, meeting a Coast Guard helicopter 200 miles (322 kilometres) west of San Diego.
The patient was hoisted aboard the helicopter and flown to San Diego, where emergency medical services personnel transferred him to UC San Diego Medical Center, Hillcrest.
The Coast Guard says the man was reported to be in stable condition.
