Rob Ford to return to hospital Tuesday for second round of chemotherapy

TORONTO – Rob Ford’s brother says the ailing Toronto mayor will begin a second round of chemotherapy on Tuesday.

Doug Ford says he will back in hospital then for the cancer treatment.

A pale and tired-looking Ford told reporters at city hall on Thursday that doctors have told him there’s a 50/50 survival rate for the rare and aggressive cancer in his body.

Ford underwent an initial round of chemotherapy last month after doctors found a tumour in his abdomen, and said the treatment “knocked the you-know-what” out of him but that he remains optimistic.

The diagnosis prompted Ford to end his re-election bid, opting for a run for council while his brother Doug is now a candidate for the city’s top job.

Ford also said fighting cancer has been his biggest challenge in a year plagued with scandal, including his admitted drug use and a stint in rehab for substance abuse.
