OTTAWA – It’s a bird! No, it’s a plane! No, it’s … a window washer?

Actually, Ottawa residents who look up in the air today might well see a group of fearless volunteers rappelling 20 storeys down a downtown office building a few blocks away from Parliament Hill.

The event is in support of children and youth with physical disabilities.

The most interesting view during the lunch hour could be of Kyle Humpfrey, an Easter Seals ambassador for the Ottawa area, who is planning to rappel down the outside of the building in a wheelchair.

Other somewhat less high-flying events planned for today in Ottawa include:

— Park Geun-hye, the president of the Republic of Korea, wraps up her state visit to Canada, taking part in a ceremonial tree planting;

— Portugal’s deputy prime minister Paulo Portas is also in Ottawa, heading an official trade delegation. He’ll meet with federal trade ministers before heading to the House of Commons for a gathering with the speaker of the House and the Parliamentary Commission for International Trade;

— And, of course, question period in the House of Commons.
