DENVER – An accident at one of Encana Corp.’s natural gas wells in Colorado has killed one worker and injured three others.
A spokesman for the Calgary-based company’s U.S. division says the man who died was a contractor with BGH Gas Test Operating Inc. of Castle Rock, Colo.
Doug Hock says two of those injured were with the same company and a third was an lease operator with Encana (TSX:ECA), a major natural gas producer with holdings across North America.
Hock describes the accident as a high-pressure gas release, which would not have involved an explosion or fire.
The well in the Julesburg Basin, north of Denver, was just coming on production when the accident occurred.
Hock says internal and external investigations have been launched to find out the cause.
