Canadian women’s team to be honoured by Whitecaps after Olympic bronze

VANCOUVER – Canada’s women’s national soccer team will be honoured even after the Olympics are done.

The Vancouver Whitecaps will salute the Canadian women’s Olympic soccer team before Wednesday’s game against FC Dallas.

Canada won bronze at the London Games after defeating France 1-0 on Aug. 9.

The Canadian women hung tough against the top-seeded Americans in a controversial semifinal. Canada lost to the United States 4-3 in extra time.

Sophie Schmidt, Karina LeBlanc and Emily Zurrer will be attendance for the pre-game ceremony.
