23-year-old man charged after nine-year-old girl sexually assaulted in Surrey

SURREY, B.C. – A 23-year-old man has been charged with the sexual assault of a nine-year-old girl who police allege was lured out of her open bedroom window in Surrey, B.C.

RCMP say Donovan Adams was scheduled to make a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

He was arrested last Thursday, a day after the girl’s mother reported her daughter was taken to a park and assaulted.

Police say the girl was left alone in a neighbour’s yard and returned home on her own.

Five charges have been laid against Donovan, including break and enter, kidnapping and sexual assault.

Surrey RCMP Supt. Trent Rolfe thanked the community for its support and co-operation in the investigation as residents raised concerns about public safety.
