Canadian wrestler Carol Huynh wins bronze medal at London Olympics

LONDON – Canada’s Carol Huynh has won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling at the London Olympics.

She beat Isabelle Sambou of Senegal to finish third in the 48-kilogram category.

Huynh, from Calgary, won Olympic gold four years ago in Beijing.

She missed out on a chance to wrestle for gold at ExCeL London North Arena 2 when she lost to Japan’s Hitomi Obara in the semifinals.

Canadian teammate Martine Dugrenier of Laval, Que., also has a chance to reach the podium.

She lost her qualification match in the 63-kilo category but won her opener in the repechage to qualify for the bronze-medal bout.
