Premiers extend invitation to Prime Minister Stephen Harper to discuss economy

HALIFAX – Canada’s premiers are calling on the prime minister to meet with them later this year to discuss the economy.

Premier Darrell Dexter of Nova Scotia has extended an invitation to Stephen Harper to attend a first ministers meeting this fall.

Dexter, who is hosting this year’s annual Council of the Federation meeting, says such a discussion is important given the state of the global economy.

He says he hopes to have the meeting in Halifax in November.
