WHISTLER, B.C. – With the opening of a new trail for mountain bikers slated for July 28, Whistler will have “the largest and highest bike park in North America,” says the resort.
The Top of the World Trail, descending from the summit of Whistler Mountain, will increase the park’s vertical drop by 332.5 metres to a total of 1,508 metres.
Access is via the Whistler Village Gondola, then a transfer to the peak chair.
The trail, intended for advanced mountain bikers, winds through three climate zones, finishing in a coastal rainforest, the bike park says. Whistler calls it the first lift-accessed alpine single-track trail in North America. It will be limited to 100 riders a day.
The bike park will remain open until Oct. 8.
