BAGHDAD – A series of roadside bombs and exploding cars in northeast Iraq have killed 11 people, bringing the day’s death toll to 69.
Diyala province police spokesman Maj.Ghalib Al-Karkhi says today’s attacks targeted security forces.
Twenty-five people were wounded.
The blasts came within hours of explosions in Baghdad and northern Iraq that together left another 58 people dead.
The attacks in the capital, in the suburban Baghdad towns of Taji and Hussainya, and around the northern city of Kirkuk appeared co-ordinated and were aimed mostly at government officials and security forces.
Those casualties were confirmed by police and health officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
