Constantine Maroulis to star in Toronto production of ‘Jekyll & Hyde’

TORONTO – “American Idol” alum Constantine Maroulis is coming to Toronto this fall to star in a stage production of “Jekyll & Hyde.”

Mirvish Productions says the performer will play the dual title role and is set to star alongside Grammy-nominated Toronto singer Deborah Cox.

The show, presented by David Mirvish and Nederlander Presentations, Inc., is scheduled to run from November 14-18 at the city’s Ed Mirvish Theatre.

Based on the novella “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson, “Jekyll & Hyde” began its Broadway run on April 28, 1997. Nominated for four Tonys, the show featured various performers in the title role — including David Hasselhoff — and closed on Jan. 7, 2001.

The show is set to return to Broadway after a 25-week North American tour.

Maroulis previously starred on Broadway in “Rock of Ages,” for which he received a Tony nomination. He was the sixth place finalist on the fourth season of “Idol.”
