Bomb threat closes Ambassador Bridge; 2nd shutdown at border in 4 days

DETROIT – Detroit police say a phoned-in bomb threat has led authorities to close the Ambassador Bridge, one of the busiest border crossings between Canada and the U.S.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens says a call came in to authorities on the U.S. side of the bridge “pertaining to a bomb on the bridge.”

Stephens says the call came about 7:20 p.m. ET and prompted authorities in Detroit and Windsor, Ont., to stop all truck and car traffic across the bridge.

So far, there’s no report of the finding of any bomb.

The closing comes four days after a phoned-in bomb threat to authorities in Windsor led to a four-hour closing of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, the other crossing between the border cities.

No bomb was found after Thursday’s closure.
