Police: 1 priest killed, 1 critically wounded at US church in possible botched burglary

PHOENIX – Police say one priest was shot and killed and another was wounded in an attack at a Catholic church in the U.S.

Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos says officers received a call about a burglary at the Mother of Mercy Mission on Wednesday night. He says responding officers found two priests badly injured.

Martos says one priest had been shot and died at the hospital. He says the other priest is hospitalized in critical condition with unspecified injuries. It’s not clear if he had been shot.

Martos says no arrests have been made.
