Tour de France pack set off on flat and relatively easy 15th stage from Samatan to Pau
SAMATAN, France – A weary Tour de France pack is heading southwest Monday in the 15th stage, a relatively easy and flat ride that should favour a sprint finish.
The 158.5-kilometre (99-mile) route from Samatan to Pau comes a day after the riders had an uncomfortable — and uncommon — run-in with dozens of flat tires because some saboteur put tacks on the road.
Race leader Bradley Wiggins of Britain drew plaudits for ensuring the pack waited for stalled riders, like defending champion Cadel Evans of Australia.
Tuesday is a rest day before two tough days in the Pyrenees. The three-week race ends July 22 in Paris.
