Reality cast member, record producer Stevie J arrested in $1-million child support case

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Prosecutors in New York say a cast member on VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” has been arrested and charged with failing to pay more than $1 million in child support.

The cast member, Steven Jordan, known as “Stevie J,” is also a Grammy-winning record producer.

He was arrested Monday night and awaiting an Atlanta court appearance Tuesday. The name of his lawyer was not immediately known.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara (buh-RAH’-ruh) in Manhattan says Jordan failed to pay the support for two children while earning $27,000 monthly.

Prosecutors say Jordan failed to make a voluntary payment in the first nine months of 2013. At the time, he earned $193,000 on the show and another $100,000 from music royalties.

VH1 did not immediately respond to a comment request.
