WINNIPEG – A Winnipeg man who was shot several times at close range during a robbery in the Dominican Republic is expected to make a full recovery.
Les Lehmann (LAY’-man) walks with a cane, spends several hours a day in physiotherapy and has plates in one arm and one leg, but says he is well on the way to being his old self again.
Lehmann was managing a small apartment complex in January when two armed intruders broke in, stomped on him and shot him.
A group of Manitoba students was staying at the complex at the time.
The attack was captured on surveillance video, which shows Lehmann falling after a gunman fires at him from only a few feet away.
Lehmann says he is grateful for donations that covered his hospital bills and for well-wishes from across the country.
suffered nine bullet wounds and was stomped by the armed intruders during the incident late last month.
