SURREY, B.C. – Homicide detectives say two teenagers are the victims of a targeted shooting in a rural area of Surrey, B.C.
Cpl. Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the victims were 16- and 17-year-old males who were not known to police.
Jang identifies the younger teen as Jaskarn Jhutty, who was also known as Jason, while the older youth is Jakaran Bhangal, who used the name Jesse.
Jang says although neither teen was known to police, friends and family will have information about them and he urges anyone who knew the youths to speak to police.
Surrey RCMP were called to the area shortly after 10 p.m. Monday.
Police say they were also called to separate locations nearby for burning vehicles on Monday night and they would like to speak with anyone who may have information related to the fires or the deaths.
A motive for the shootings is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
