TROY, Ala. (AP) — Ahmad Hardy scored the game’s only touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to get UL Monroe past Troy 13-9 on Saturday night in a Sun Belt Conference opener.
Hardy’s 1-yard touchdown run capped an eight play, 75-yard drive to end the scoring with 9:08 remaining. Troy didn’t pick up a first down on its final two possessions.
Hardy finished with 94 yards rushing on 26 carries.
Max Larson kicked field goals from 42 and 20 yards for ULM (3-1, 1-0). Aidan Armenta completed 4 of 6 passes for 108 yards for the Warhawks.
Scott Taylor Renfroe made three of four field-goal attempts, a 37 and 49-yarder in the first half, and from 36 yards early in the fourth quarter to give Troy (1-4, 0-1) a 9-6 lead.
Gerald Green ran for 102 yards and Damien Taylor finished with 71 as the Trojans outgained the Warhawks 201-112 on the ground and finished with 25 more yards of offense (272-247).
