Juno winners Fjellgaard and Valdy to hit stages from Kamloops to Penticton

THOMPSON OKANAGAN – It's that time again, when Fjellgaard and Valdy mosey-on-down for their Annual Okanagan tour.

Juno Award winner Gary Fjellgaard is as Canadian as they come, raised on the windswept prairies as a cattleman. His background is the inspiration for his western roots music style.

"The romance and adventure of the west has been a part of me since I was a kid riding bareback across the prairies, yodelling up a storm," Fjellgaard says on his website.

One of Fjellgaard's favourite experiences though is working with fellow balladeer and two-time Juno award winner, Valdy.

The Canadian Folk and country musician began his solo career in 1970, but was a member of the London Town Criers during the '60s before joining the Montreal band the Prodigal Sons. He has 14 albums to his name, achieving sales of nearly half a million copies, with four striking gold.

While in the Okanagan, the pair will appear at Lorenzo's Cafe in Ashton Creek with dinner at 6 p.m and show at 8 p.m. For reservations call 250-838-6700. On Nov. 1, they'll be at Centre Stage Theatre in Summerland at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Martin's Flowers and by calling 250-494-5432.
