Kelowna – A solid third period helped Rutland’s very own Kelowna Chiefs earn their second straight victory in the early 2013/2014 KIJHL season.
The Chiefs defeated the Revelstoke Grizzlies 6 – 2 Saturday night.
Kelowna took control of the game in the first period as Kevin Roth (1G, 1A) opened up scoring on the powerplay. Chase Astorino would follow with a goal before the buzzer to make the game 2 – 0 in favour of the Chiefs.
It was a different story in the second with Revelstoke scoring two quick goals including one by former Chiefs player Tre Mason. At the end of the second, the game was 2 – 2.
Kelowna then went on to dominate the third period starting with a shorthanded goal from Dylan Jamieson (2G), who then quickly netted another a minute and a half later.
Taylor McDowell would also score for the Chiefs while Ryan Baim would solidify the victory with just over five minutes left in the period.
The Kelowna Chiefs now return to Rutland Arena where they take the ice against the Princeton Posse who defeated the Chiefs in the season opener. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
