SALT LAKE CITY – Officials say a German tourist hiking in Zion National Park has died after collapsing on a popular trail.
Park spokeswoman Eleanor Siebers told The Salt Lake Tribune that the 68-year-old man collapsed Tuesday afternoon on the West Rim Trail leading to Angels Landing.
Rescuers responded but were not able to resuscitate the man, who was part of a German tour group.
Authorities have not identified the man.
The 17-mile (27-kilometre) trail takes hikers to an iconic rock formation.
The death marks the second at the park this year.
A 35-year-old Salt Lake City man died in April. Park officials said his injuries were consistent with a fall.
A 13-year-old girl fell to her death in the park in February 2018.
