RCMP ‘reaching out’ to Pamela Anderson after speech about abuse allegations

VICTORIA – The Mounties want to talk to Pamela Anderson after the B.C.-born star gave a speech detailing years of sexual abuse she says she suffered as a child.

Anderson spoke out last Friday in Cannes, France, at an event launching her charity, telling the audience she was molested by a female babysitter between the ages of six and 10.

She also said she was raped by a 25-year-old man when she was 12, and then by a group of boys, including her boyfriend, when she was in the ninth grade.

Anderson, who is from Ladysmith, B.C., on Vancouver Island, has previously spoken about being a rape survivor.

Cpl. Darren Lagan says in an emailed statement that the RCMP is "reaching out" to Anderson to discuss her allegations, but he otherwise declined to comment.

A spokeswoman for Anderson declined to comment.
