Raimondo lowers flags in honour of Nice attack victims

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Gov. Gina Raimondo has ordered all United States and Rhode Island flags to be flown at half-staff at all state facilities and buildings in honour of the victims of the deadly truck attack in Nice, France.

The Democrat’s order says flags should remain at half-staff until sunset on July 19. Raimondo also asks that Rhode Islanders lower their flags as a mark of respect.

Raimondo made the order Friday in accordance with a proclamation ordered by President Barack Obama.

Eighty-four people were killed and 200 more wounded when the driver of a truck slammed his vehicle into a throng of Bastille Day revelers on Nice’s seaside boulevard on Thursday.
