MONTREAL – Multiple sources say Veronique Hivon will launch her bid to become leader of the Parti Quebecois on Monday.
Hivon has scheduled a news conference tomorrow afternoon to announce her decision.
Hivon, 46, served as the province’s social services and youth protection minister from 2012 to 2014.
She also tabled Quebec’s right-to-die legislation.
PQ leader Pierre Karl Peladeau resigned last week, citing family reasons.
Legislature veteran Sylvain Gaudreault is serving as interim leader.
Party members will elect a new leader between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15.
