West Kelowna Warriors outscore Eagles in Surrey

SURREY – The West Kelowna Warriors picked up their second win of their road trip with a 6-4 victory over the Surrey Eagles on Friday night, Nov. 27, in Surrey.

The Eagles started out strong as they picked up the opening goal just 1:45 into the first period as Tyler Andrews redirected the first goal past Warriors goaltender Aidan Doak.

The Warriors responded as Connor Sodergren put one past Forbes Ploszaj to tie the game, but the Eagles took the lead just 42 seconds later on a goal from Jeffrey Stewart.

In the second period Kristian Blumenschein tied the game at two-each with a wrap-around shot.

West Kelowna scored a pair of power-play goals over the next seven minutes, as Rylan Yaremko and Kylar Hope put pucks past Ploszaj.

Brett Mennear was the finisher on Lane Gilliss's first BCHL point, as Gilliss sent the perfect pass through to Mennear.

In the third period, it would be Reed Gunville's first goal in the BCHL that widened the lead to 6-2, before the Eagles scored a pair to make it a 6-4 game.

The Warriors out-shot the Eagles 38-22 in the game, as the Eagles stayed within three points of Salmon Arm for second place in the Interior Division.
