PORTLAND – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winterhawks 8-5 at the Moda Centre in Portland on Saturday night, Nov. 7, winning both games this weekend between the two teams.
Kelowna came back from a three-goal deficit to rally for its fourth straight victory and improve to 13-5-0-0 on the season.
The Rockets scored four times in the second and added four more in the third, including a pair by Justin Kirkland.
The Rockets fell behind 3-0 after the first period as the Hawks scored three straight to chase Kelowna starter Michael Herringer. But a four goal second period gave the Rockets the lead heading to the third period.
Tyson Baillie and Kole Lind each had a goal and two assists in the game while other Rockets goals came from Nick Merkley, Cole Linaker, Rodney Southam and Devante Stephens.
Portland outshot Kelowna 32-29 in the game.
The Rockets are back home on Wednesday when the play host to the Vancouver Giants at 2:05 p.m. in a special Remembrance Day game.
Kelowna fans also have Monday night's Canada-Russia series game to look forward to, a 7:05 start Monday at Prospera Place.
