KELOWNA – Kelowna International Airport is the proud recipient of the British Columbia Aviation Council's 2015 William Templeton Award.
The award is presented annually for outstanding initiative and achievement in the continuous and successful development of a community airport.
“This is a tremendous achievement for the YLW campus,” said Airport Director, Sam Samaddar. “We’ve certainly developed an airport that the community can be truly proud of, and really it’s because of our hard-working staff and the innovation that we’ve used to develop this world-class facility.”
YLW accepted the award at the annual BCAC Silver Wings Awards Oct. 20. This event honoured the many achievements of its members, industry leaders and youth, who benefit from the nearly $20,000 awarded annually in scholarships.
“We have seen significant growth in the aviation and aerospace sector in British Columbia over the past few years,” said BCAC Chairman, Mark Duncan. “That is thanks to the innovation, expertise and entrepreneurial spirit of local companies and industry members.”
