Rebels down Kelowna Rockets in Red Deer

RED DEER, Alta – The Red Deer Rebels defeated the Kelowna Rockets 7-4 on Saturday night, Oct. 3, at the Enmax Centrium in Red Deer, dropping to 1-1-0-0 this weekend, in a stretch of four games in five nights.

The Rebels scored four second period goals to take a strangle-hold on the game, jumping out to a 6-2 lead after two periods of play.

Kelowna scored twice in the third but couldn't erase the deficit and fell to 3-2-0-0 on the WHL season.

Tyson Baillie scored his fifth goal of the season and added an assist to lead the Rockets who also got goals by Kole Lind, Calvin Thurkauf and Justin Kirkland.

Riley Stadel and Lucas Johansen each chipped in with two assists. Michael Herringer took the loss in net as both teams fired 38 shots on net in the game.

Kelowna will play Sunday in Lethbridge before the team has a day off and closes out its road trip Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Medicine Hat.

The Rockets return to Prospera Place this coming Friday, Oct. 9, when they host the Victoria Royals.
