VIDEO: Behind the scenes at the Canadian Culinary Championships

KELOWNA – The first of a series of three professional videos produced during the last Canadian Culinary Competition has been released on YouTube, and it’s an exciting glimpse into the intensity that goes on during one of Kelowna’s signature annual events.

The Canadian Culinary Championships started in 2010 as a way to highlight the talent found in kitchens across the country and raise money for Canadian athletes.

Render Digital Media produced all three videos for Telus and plan to release them in the coming weeks.

To get to the championships, chefs from around the world must win their regional qualifier known as Gold Medal Plates.

The 20-minute long first episode, Mystery Wine, features 11 chefs tasked with creating a dish that pairs with an unlabeled bottle of wine. It was released to YouTube Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Last year Barney Bentall and Barenaked Ladies lead singer Ed Robertson performed live for hundreds and it was announced that Kelowna would continue hosting the Championships through 2020.
