Fatal stabbing at northern Alberta work camp

FOX CREEK, Alta. – Two people are dead and a suspect has been shot and wounded by police following an overnight stabbing at a work camp in northern Alberta.

RCMP say they got word just before 2:00 a.m. about someone armed with a knife attacking people at the camp in Fox Creek, about 260 kilometres northwest of Edmonton.

Officers found two people dead at the scene and later tracked down a suspect who was armed with a knife.

Police say he was wounded when the officers fired their guns while trying to arrest him.

The people who died have not been identified and the condition of the man who was shot is not known.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, which looks into police-involved shootings, is part of the investigation.
