Local swimmer makes Pan Pacific swim team
PENTICTON — A local swimmer has been selected to participate in this year’s Pan Pacific Games in Pasadena, California.
Andrew Cooke, 22, is no stranger to international swimming competitions, having participated in several Can-American games, Pan-American games and 2012 Olympic trials.
He has been training in Penticton for over 10 years with the KISU swimming club. Cooke hopes to compete in the 2016 and 2020 for the Canadian paralympic team.
“Representing Canada at Para Pan Pacs is a wonderful accomplishment for Andrew, the result of a lot of hard work on his part, as well as the dedication and talent of his coach. We are very proud of him – he is an inspiration to our entire club,” said Nancy Telford, KISU Swim Club President.
