A gathering to remember those lost on the job
PENTICTON — The City will be hosting a special service in honour of B.C. workers who have lost their lives on the job, as part of the Annual Day of Mourning.
Last year, 128 British Columbians lost their lives to work-related illness, disease or injury.
The Day of Mourning provides families, friends, workers and co-workers to come together and celebrate those lost and bring awareness to the importance of workplace safety.
The public gathering will be held at the memorial tree in front of McLaren Park Arena, at 1350 King Street, at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28.
Mayor Garry Litke will read the City’s proclamation and request a moment of silence. Any members of the public wishing to speak will be invited to do so.
