700 Kelowna homes without electricity this morning due to planned outage

Power is out for roughly 700 homes this morning in Kelowna's Mission area as FortisB.C. replaces a power pole.

The outage began at 9 a.m. this morning, Sept. 17 and is expected to last for up to four hours in the Mission area along Gordon Drive.

"The outage is required so we can replace a power pole that was damaged in a motor vehicle accident late Thursday night. We are supporting the pole a bucket truck today to keep the power on for local schools and residents, but have to get back tomorrow to safely complete repairs," according to an email from FortisB.C.

The outage can be seen on FortisB.C.'s outage map. The map estimated power will be restored by 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.
