
Kamloops RCMP catch up with drunk car thief passed out behind wheel
A Kamloops woman is facing drunk driving and possession of stolen property charges after passing out behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle this past weekend.
Police were called at around 2:35 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, to a parking lot in the 700 block of Tranquille Road, according to an RCMP media release. The responding officers found a stolen vehicle on a concrete median and a woman slumped over the steering wheel.
The woman was taken to the detachment and a breath sample indicated she had a blood alcohol of 240 milligrams. Going above 80 mg is a criminal offence.
The woman was released with tickets, conditions and a court date. Drunk driving and possession of stolen property charges have been recommended by RCMP.
The vehicle was returned to its owner.
