
Wildfire south of Penticton now 1.4 hectares
A wildfire burning south of Penticton has more than doubled overnight.
The Mount Hawthorne wildfire, which is located just to the west of Okanagan Falls, has grown to 1.4 hectares in size as of this morning, July 27, according to B.C. Wildfire.
A team from B.C. Wildfire is currently assisting the Kaleden Fire Department, according to a B.C. Wildfire Facebook post from July 27.
As of last night, when the fire was just 0.5 hectares in size, it was not threatening any homes or impacting any highways.
