RCMP issue warning after multiple break and enters near KGH

KELOWNA – A dramatic jump in break and enters of homes and cars near the hospital at the end of March has police warning residents to keep their doors locked.

Const. Kris Clark says Kelowna RCMP received approximately “half a dozen” reports between March 24 and 31, and that similarities between them lead police to suspect they may be related.

“When you have break and enters within the same area, that is certainly one connection,” he says. “Another connection could possibly be the time of day and how they gained entry. Those are all things that can link files together.”

Since the investigation is ongoing, Clark says that all he can do at this point is issue a warning to area residents.

“Make sure your doors are locked, even when you’re home,” he says. “If you’re working out in your back yard and your front door is open, that’s just an invitation.”

Clark also recommends those going away for vacation have someone look in on their residence often and if possible, hire someone to house sit.
