Vernon RCMP arrest suspect brandishing knife

RCMP arrested a Vernon man for brandishing a knife at the city's downtown bus loop yesterday morning.

The arrest has led to charges against the man for a multitude of other offences.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, police were called to an incident yesterday morning, Dec. 23, at the bus loop at the intersection of 31 Avenue and 30 Street following a report of a man with a knife.

"Police responded and safely arrested the man who was held in custody while Vernon North Okanagan officers conducted their investigation," Vernon RCMP Cpl. Neil Body said in a media release. "Thankfully no injuries were reported to police as a result of this disturbance."

Police say Tyler Farran, 25, is now facing numerous charges including possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of stolen property that is linked to a downtown Vernon business.

The Vernon man also faces more charges of possessing stolen credit cards and possessing break-in instruments. He remains in custody waiting to appear in court.
