Suspected drug dealer on stolen motorcycle busted in Kelowna

A suspected drug dealer was arrested and charged after he was caught by Kelowna RCMP on a stolen motorcycle earlier this week.

The suspect is known to police as he was found breaching a court-imposed condition when police were conducting proactive enforcement checks on him back on Oct. 6, according to an RCMP media release. This prompted an investigation to locate the man for his failure to comply with the conditions.

On Nov. 16, a black Suzuki motorcycle, that had been reported stolen earlier in the day, was spotted by members of the Kelowna RCMP Target Team who followed it to the 2200 block of Benvoulin Road, RCMP said. The male driver was identified as the suspect who was allegedly breaching his court imposed condition and taken into custody without incident.

“Following his arrest, a search of the man located quantities of suspected GHB, methamphetamine and prescription narcotics,” Kelowna RCMP Sgt. Desmond Kiehlbauch said in the release. “The man was also allegedly driving while prohibited and in breach of various orders previously imposed on him by the courts.”

The B.C. Prosecution Service has charged Richard Daniel Hill, 33, with multiple counts associated with possession of stolen property and break-in instruments, breaching release and probation orders, drug possession and driving while prohibited.

RCMP said Hill remains in custody at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.
