
Vernon cops nab 2 men after gun-pointing incident downtown
Two men were arrested yesterday afternoon following a report that a man pointed a gun at another individual in downtown Vernon.
According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, police received a report that a man had pointed what was thought to be a firearm at another person in the 3400 block of 27 Avenue. The incident took place at roughly 1:20 p.m. yesterday, Nov. 9.
Multiple frontline officers headed to the area, however, the suspect had fled in a vehicle prior to the police arriving.
RCMP officers used a helicopter and located the suspect's vehicle in the 3900 block of 30 Avenue. Police stopped the vehicle and safely arrested the occupants without incident.
The vehicle was searched and police located a loaded firearm.
Two Vernon men, aged 34 and 38 years old, now face numerous charges have since been released from custody pending a future court date.
