UPDATE: Delays expected as Highway 5 reopens following accident near Merritt

DriveB.C. is warning drivers to expect delays after an accident on the Coquihalla caused the road's closure this afternoon.

The incident occurred five kilometres south of Merritt, Oct. 11, according to DriveB.C. One southbound lane is still closed.

An air ambulance was on scene,  and DriveB.C. is also reporting the cause of the delays in the southbound lanes is due to wildlife.

– This story was updated at 4:13 p.m. to report traffic delays and lane reopening.

– This story was updated at 3:09 p.m. to say northbound lanes have reopened.

– This story was updated at 2:33 p.m. as both directions were reported to be closed.
