Half marathon combines wine and natural Okanagan beauty

KELOWNA – The Kelowna Wine Country Half Marathon is based on the success of a similar event held in California’s famous Napa Valley.

The Napa to Sonoma Wine Country Half Marathon first combined a marathon with natural beauty and wine over a decade ago.

Destination Races brought the idea to the Okanagan Valley for the first time last year with the half marathon in Kelowna in September 2014. It was the first time one of its events was held outside the U.S.

The second annual run will follow the same course Sept. 6, 2015 from Vibrant Vine Winery on the East Bench and down into the valley before finishing at Waterfront Park on Okanagan Lake.

And it’s more than just the race. A whole agenda of activities are planned to last the whole weekend.

The company has just posted a video from last year’s race in an effort to entice participants to sign up. The visuals are stunning. Check it out below.

You can register for the marathon at the Destination Races website.
